The four commitments
In a world of data-hungry apps, Leaves of Blocks is a deliberate exception. We built it the way games used to be built — just the game.
The app collects absolutely nothing. No analytics, no crash reports, no identifiers. Your gameplay is yours alone.
No banners. No interstitials. No "watch a video to continue." We will never sell your attention to advertisers.
Your scores, stats, and settings live exclusively on your device using iOS UserDefaults and Core Data. Never on a server.
COPPA compliant. Rated 4+ on the App Store. Safe for all ages with no social features or in-app purchases.
The case for ad-free
Open the App Store and almost every block puzzle game above ours follows the same playbook: a 30-second video ad between rounds, a banner along the bottom, "watch a video to continue" pop-ups when you lose. The game itself is fine. The experience around the game is exhausting.
That model exists because attention is what advertisers pay for. The "free" puzzle game isn't really free — it's bartering your time, your focus, and (often) data about your device and habits to whatever ad network is paying highest that quarter. Block Blast, the most popular game in the genre, openly shares user data with at least four separate advertising partners.
Leaves of Blocks rejects that model. Zero ads. Zero data collected. Zero in-app purchases. The puzzle is the puzzle. The trade-off is that the developer absorbs the cost personally — but block puzzles are one of those genres where a quiet, uninterrupted version is actually worth something.
If you have ever been mid-thought, about to clear a triple line, and lost your focus to a 30-second video for some other game — this one was built for you.
“O Me! O life! of the questions of these recurring, of the endless trains of the faithless, of cities fill’d with the foolish… What good amid these, O me, O life?
Answer.
That you are here — that life exists and identity, that the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.”
The name Leaves of Blocks is an homage to Whitman’s masterwork. Like the poem, this game invites you to contribute your verse — one block at a time, without distraction, without someone watching over your shoulder.
Switching from Block Blast?
Ads, privacy, ratings, mom approval, literary pedigree — a side-by-side, totally unbiased comparison.
Compare nowYes, Leaves of Blocks is completely free to download and play. There are no in-app purchases, no subscription fees, and no ads — ever.
Both are 10×10 block puzzle games — the format is the same. The differences are everything else. Leaves of Blocks has zero ads of any kind, collects zero user data, was built by a single developer in the United States, and works completely offline. Block Blast is the genre's most popular game (around 2.3 million App Store ratings) but is widely known for aggressive ad placement and substantial data collection shared with advertising partners. We have a full side-by-side comparison on our vs. Block Blast page.
Most "free" mobile games are actually ad-supported, which means your attention and your data are the product being sold. Leaves of Blocks rejects that model entirely. The game is genuinely free — no banners, no interstitials between rounds, no rewarded videos, no subscription. The trade-off is that the developer absorbs the costs (App Store fees, hosting this website) personally. We think a quiet block puzzle is worth more than the ad revenue we are giving up.
The app collects absolutely zero user data. Your scores and game history are stored exclusively on your device using iOS. Nothing is ever transmitted to any server. Note that this website uses Google Analytics for anonymous page-view statistics. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Free to download. No ads. No trackers. Just blocks.
